Forum Wasteland - 2007/04/20 14:17 Does it bother anyone that the "Strategy and Tactics" forum is practically empty? It has far less original posts and replies than any of the others. Why do you think this is? I would wager it is because there aren't any original or complicated strategies or tactics. Defending is so much easier than attacking that attackers cannot hope to win unless they grossly outnumber their enemy. Every battle involves the same people doing the same things over and over: same designs, same cities, same roles (attacker/orber/defender/mayor), same tactics, same everything.

Re:Forum Wasteland - 2007/04/20 18:50 Ya, people often do that. I like it if your mayor is a good attacker. The problem is that it literally *forces* the other team to all D. And all D is why this game's strategy is a wasteland. Ironically, everyone all D's, including me. When placed in a situation where you are losing, what else would you do? You make the best of what you have I guess. Its weird though- its like people expect that if you are duke+ you shouldn't ever defend. You are expected to either mayor or attack. Whenever I'm defending, people always start shouting 4D even if it is just me, the mayor, and a guy that just died attacking.

agreed. cut the health loss from mines to 70-75%...enough so that you can run over a mine and take a turret shot without dying.

weakening mines will balance things a bit more (take a bit of an edge away from the defenders). plus it'll force defenders who's only strategy is to carry a shitload of mines to actually learn how to defend.

Re:Forum Wasteland - 2007/04/21 03:54 Yes because I will admit even nice clientel gets very pissed when a certain mayor can do nothing but mine and he says its "pwning" any retard in a mental institution with insane workers who help them know that if you mine someone it is not hard to do so how could that be considered a high priced skill word like "pwn" this will teach them a lesson in the art of defending and to actually do it besides run around behind u dropping 5 mines

maybe even 50% the more i think about it. you could still double stack mines to protect vital areas.

another thing to consider (which vind or someone else mentioned in the game a few days ago) is increasing the dfg count to five. this would help out attacking teams but would also allow outgunned cities to use them on d (to compensate a little for weaker mines). the thing i like about a higher dfg count is that they can be used both ways (unlike mines).

Re:Forum Wasteland - 2007/04/24 01:14 This game has been losing a lot of appeal lately, it has becoming ever increasingly repetitive. Same mayors in same cities, and it's true, no new intuitive strategies have been developed.

I've played for close to 2 years now and I'm getting bored of the same things over and over again. I don't think I'll hit King or Auror anytime soon and am really just waiting for the day we get some great new updates.

I'd love to see

-mine damage reduced or permanent placement
-random starting cities
-a help button that works
-customizable keys
-autohire button
-open comms

among other things...

Is there any word as to where Remote's project (BC Java) is currently and what all it will entail? Has all work and development completely ceased on this current version?

Just some thoughts..
