Forums Suggestion - 2007/11/03 05:14
I have a suggestion which I really hope gets consideration.
In simple I request that we change the forums. Change it to something like the old forums. Actually I would really like it to be exactly like the old forums.
Here are my reasons for this.
First, the old forums was much more easy to navigate then our current forums.
Second, the appearance of the older forums was much better then this forums. Appearance is important as we may not even get people to download the game simply because they are turned off at our forums.
Third, I believe a majority of the players would approve of this request. Anyone I have spoke to about this seems to be in complete agreement. I have spoken to many players, all of which prefer our old forums to this one.
Fourth, Remote wants us to distance himself from us. I can't think of a better way then going back to the forums that he requested we leave. Those forums were perfectly functional and the players were very satisfied with them. We only changed at his request. Since he is no longer associated with BC I think leaving the "remote" forums would be a good step in the right direction.
As a personal note to Weebo. I know you have put multitude of hours into the game, this forums, and into BC in ways we the players wouldn't even think of. Please do not take this as an attack on your skill, or your handiwork. Remember you created the first forums which I adored. I wish I had one tenth your talent when it came to computers. I hope you take this suggestion the way it is intended, as a way to continue to improve BC, a goal of which you strive for more then any other person.

Yea although from a designer point of view the site isn't bad.
But when your new you dont want to look at shit colors honestly. There other site was bright and saying COME IN to all new commers this one on the other hand I believe drives them away with the sewer colors.
I would also like to make a request that since our points have been reset we get karma resets!

phpBB is definitely a better forum system and I would love to switch back to using it again in the future.
I won't be able to spend any time right now on a switch, especially since the current site is running perfectly fine.
Also, the current site is a much better landing page for the game than the old site, even if the forums arent as functional. Remember, many people suggested we change the old site because it didn't look like a game site.

i like this forum better, i just wish it loaded threads as fast as the old one.

We could always just have a link to the new phpBB forum, or whichever you want to use. There are also free ones that are better than this one.
As for this website, I think that we should keep it, but there is always room for improvement. I think that "Battlecity Classic" needs to be in bigger font and shadowed or something. Kind of next to the world Map with the targets on it.
Also, the size of the page should increase so that you need a minimum screen of 1024x768 to view the webpage. I mean come on, who actually uses 800x600 anymore? (except BC, lol)

I did try compiling a 1024x768 version of BC though! You could actually have turrets visible right at the edge of the screen not shooting at you without using alt-tab!
Unfortunately this completely messed up a few other things or else that could be a good update in itself

I didn't get a chance to actually test it, I just compiled it to see how it would look.
The problems I saw right away were the inability to build. The place you would try to drop a building is not where it would actually appear.
Another bug was with respect to loading sectors. If you're lagging, on the current BC sometimes you;ll see a small black wall before the sector loads and you see the ground. With the bigger view, it looks like our view is almost as big as a sector now rather than smaller. So you pretty much always see bars of black loading as you move in any direction. Normally this would begin loading before it would appear on your screen so by the time you get to it it wouldnt be black.
For those who have used admin accounts, you know what I mean. If you head off fast in a direction, you always get those black bars. Now everyone would unless sectors are made bigger.
Not sure if angles were messed up for shooting etc
