Aww crap - 2007/10/18 22:19
Ok, i seem to have done a baddddddd thing. I downloaded an Adobe Photoshop thing along with a Windows Debugger, but apparantly they both had some kind of spyware thing. Now my comp is INSANELY SLOW!! It took me 90+ minutes to just open up firefox, go to here, and post this!
Also now i cant log into BC cause my comp is running so slow . Looks like ima be out for awhile unless i can fix this up
EDIT: wow, it doesnt appear to be either one cause i uninstalled them both, but i closed a different program and it suddenly got fixed. Thing is i dont know what it was called, so now i have no clue as to what to uninstall.

try installing ad-aware from lavasoft and do a scan. It is free and takes almost all ad/spy/malware.

Re:Aww crap - 2007/10/20 05:23
Some help:
1.If you have windows XP go to START. Hit CONTROL PANEL look for ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS, them open this file and you will see how many programs are running if you see something is nothing to do with windows executive programs RIGHT CLICK on that program you think is suspicious and stop or close actually you can go to properties and get some info what this program is doing in you cpu. 2.if you find some weird program copy and paste the name and GOOGLE you will find where is this program coming from. 3.For better than AD-AWARE is "Spy Doctor" This program should remove any single TXT,EXE, malicious files because look like when you start you computer this malicious file start running and take most of the memory available that’s why you have to disable first if you want remove this file from you cpu. do this if you still have problems i tell you how to scan your cpu from DOS. Good luck. Or also maybe you know this but you can actually see how many programs are running in your cpu pressing CTRL+ ALT AND DELETE same time if you find a big files running in your cpu GOOGLE and you will find what this programs is doing in your cpu actually you can check any suspicious file but take time’s patient GL

Re:Aww crap - 2007/10/20 16:49
Well, right now i have spyware doctor, but i shut it down a month or two ago, also it wont restart (then again i havent put in much effort). And I can't download anything for some strange reason. If i try and download, my computer freezes.
The only way i've been able to get on is by closing explorer.exe, but all that does is take out the desktop, and the start menu stuff (it's not a bad thing).
Ima try and restart spyware doctor, if not, ima get my flashdrive and download ad-aware at school.

ummm Sound a very bad hack ware when you dealing with this problems you need make sure what you doing. try "system restore" sometimes help a lot can be corrupted file or VIRUS Downloading programs.. Maybe you delete some operational window programs i suggest scan you cpu with ad-aware first i don’t think is going to fix this problem but try anyway the other think you can do and is the best! FORMAT you hard drive and stop downloading bad programs:

Re:Aww crap - 2007/10/22 01:12
well, right now im still doing the same thing, but i've gotten AVG. It's working pretty good. now when i start my computer, its back to normal, but after the startup, it's starting to freeze.
Il give AVG a try, but if it doesnt permanently get rid of the viruses, then il try ad-aware. If that doesnt work, we're gonna go buy Norton Antivirus. If that fails, then its a new PC .
On another note, im gonna be gone for the rest of the week because my uncle has passed away and we're going to be taking his body back to his country. Then again this all depends on how long it takes to get a passport renewed

Re:Aww crap - 2007/10/22 02:02
The thing with Spyware is that you can remove it, but as soon as you restart its put back.
Definitely try running Ad-Aware and SpyDoctor and any anti-virus programs you have.
When your computer starts, try running this process explorer to find out specific details of everything running on your computer.
If one looks fishy, look it up on Google to find out if it is known Spyware. You will then probably be able to find specific instructions for removing the particular Spyware you have been infected with.
Sometimes you need to delete certain keys in the registry.
Hope that helps.

Re:Aww crap - 2007/10/22 05:43
When normal programs can't get rid of your problem it is often been downloaded to a folder called "system volume information". It is located on every disc/partition you have. The folder is a hidden system folder and to fin it you have to uncheck the hide box in explorer preferences.
After this log in as administrator in safe mode. In windows explorer right click the system volume information and open the sharing and security window. Here you can give your normal login name access to the folder.
Reboot and open the folder after starting windows manually. You can delete every file in there without harming your system. Doing that will get rid of any virus or spyware in there. Including a few of Microsoft's customer feedback things.

if you have your windows xp install disk its simple, just save whatever files you will need after the reset(documents, music, whatever) b/c they will all be gone.
insert the xp disk and install windows, when you come to a certain part of it it will give you options on the way to install windows, tell it to format the drive and install this will clear EVERYTHING off your computer.
Just follow the directions on the install and you'll be fine, its very simple. just look for the screen tha i metioned before.

Re:Aww crap - 2007/10/27 18:36
oh yea after you reinstall windows you will probrably have to update / install drivers for things such as monitor, video card, sound card etc etc. BUT windows will be able to function with these, just not at their full potential. but you wil be able to get onto the internet to get these drivers if you dont have the disks.

Re:Aww crap - 2007/10/29 18:14
even tho your computer came with xp on it, it should have come with a disk copy of it too, if you have a box or drawer with all your stuff that came with your computer look around in it for a cd, it might jus tsimply be a cd in a sleeve not really anything flashy like microsoft normally does.
you can use someone elses xp disc if you need to, im not sure how the activation works if someone else has activated the same one but i used my sisters vista that she also used.
buuut anyway, having that cd will make it a very painless process.
