Who Will Win the BCL Grand Prizes!? - 2007/10/01 16:05
Visit the BattleCity League section to see the current standings!
After week one, Testament, New B, RedRocket and Gunman are currently tied in the lead for the grand prize of $25 BCD to be awarded at the end of the season!!!
There are still 5 weeks left so be there this Thursday at 10pm EST if you want to win!
Remember, all players who show up get a custom tank for 1 week... but thats not all!
At the end of the season, the top 3 players with the most points will win:
1st: $25 BCD
2nd: $15 BCD
3rd: $15 BCD
That's enough BattleCity Dollars to get a custom tank from the BattleCity Store!
We encourage everyone to take part. Don't worry if you think you have no chance of finishing in the Top 3, you could still win a prize just by taking part!
At the end of the season, the names of all players who have played in at least 2 games will be put in a hat! We will then randomly select two names from the hat and both of these players will also win $15 BCD!!!

If 40 people show up, we can have a 10 city WAR! (It can happen, we had 40 for one Dark Lord event and 30+ for another! JUST TELL EVERYBODY ABOUT IT!!!!)
Imagine if you are on the winning team and your team is the one that orbs the 9 other cities...
Everyone in your city could earn over 10 points that night and fly WAY up the standings!
And don't forget, you have a chance of winning great prizes just by showing up and playing!
Help make the BCL fun. Tell everyone about it! Try and predict who will be the Grand Champion, make top player lists, post screenshots, etc !!!

On another note, if you see Nightwish, tell him what time it is EST! =p
Also.. if tons of people do show up, please try and cooperate with the refs so things can run smoothly. It won't be easy for them if there are millions of you running around lol!

There isn't a single timezone that will appeal to everyone since we have players from all over the world!
You'll have to wake up and play with the volume off at 4am or wait until the 10am EST time-zone gets enough players to support a league.
Trust me, the BCL staff feels your pain. Nightwish wakes up at 4am to ref these games for us just because thats the time the most players can get on!

OK Weebo knows this as I've asked about this in PM.
But I would like a response from the community from this notion.
If you are Mayor you get a point for ASSIST, MAYOR, WIN.. If you a Attacker and orb you get a point for Orb and Win. Now If you get the MVP you get 3 points.
Now I had some concern on how this worked because some people don't Mayor and some just don't Attack.
Now if a Mayor wins every game WITHOUT MVP he would for sure be the winner.
Now only in the hopes of a Attacker to win every game he would have to get a MVP everytime to have a chance to tie.
Now this makes no sence, since the Mayor can still be awarded MVP aswell as any other attacker. I think the one who orbs should get a extra point (2} points per orb.
Then that would level out the playing field and make it fair to Mayors/Orbers alike.
Please Do not flame this post I just think the point system is alittle glitchy and in the favor of the Mayor.
So if you agree or disagree please say so! And Why!

I agree that the point system is in fact in the favor of the mayor.
I have done this purposefully in order to encourage the best players to play as Mayor because this is when we end up having the most exciting battles.
You do raise a good point and perhaps the best solution would be to state that Mayors CANNOT win MVP because they already get an extra point for being mayor.
Remember, while an orber and defender can be clutch and either save the base or come through for the win, none of it is possible without the mayor. This is why, it was originally decided to give the mayor a point just for being mayor!
Current System
MVP and Mayor for a winning team will earn the same amount of points, unless the mayor is also MVP at which point the Mayor could get 4 points while the rest of the team 2!
If we state that the Mayor CANNOT win MVP, then a winning mayor will earn 3 points, the MVP 3 points, while the rest of the team gets 2 points.
Alternative 1
Forget about giving the mayor an extra point, but allow mayor to win MVP. Everyone on the winning team earns 2 points except the MVP who gets 3.
Alternative 2
Scrap the whole point system and just uses "wins" as the points. This would mean that the whole team always gets the same amount of points, which would also make sense since BattleCity is a team game. Then we could use MVP for tie-breakers.
Please note that the above numbers apply to a 2-city war. In a 3 or 4 city battle, there is the possibility of picking up even more points since a team could get more than one orb in a night!
If anybody else has an opinion on this please share now! The main objective is to rank the players so that we can determine the Top 3 at the end of the season and give them their awesome prizes!
Nightwish can then decide which ranking system he likes best based on whatever input people provide!

OK after reading my post I seen a few flaws I would like to correct. or State new ones that might be of some use to help Nightwish.
Although everyone will not agree and no one will ever ALL agree. Here we go
Me and Weebs were talking about the Acts of the MVP getting "2" Points instead of one. TO make it evenly square between Mayor/orber alike.
But then I thought about and I used this exact story if there was a crappy mayor who had a Good/Great Defender. Now if you think about this how many times has "just" a attacker/defender ever got MVP, BINGO not many. My point I'm trying to get across is there is no I in Team.
Now say you got a crappy Mayor with a Great defender and the defender is busting his arse every attack while helping his mayor best he can, Well the Great Defender didn't feel like mayoring, Now is that any need for him to get 2 point's one less of his counter part the Mayor because he didn't "feel" like Mayoring in that particular game. No it's not.
Same for Orber...
What I am getting at is the points should be even and have the MVP get 1 point...
And yes you say, "Mayoring and Orbing is harder then Defending and Attacking" But yet how often do you see a attacker or a defender get a MVP?
Thats how it will balance out
Mayor/Defender, Attacker/Orber Get same amount of points for winning. But the MVP is what gives the edge. And Since mayoring and Orbing are harder the mayor and orber are most likely to win the MVP
So what is another cat a defender or attacker could get to even it out that they get. To even this out.
Orb assist (Attacker), Iron Man (Defender)
Those are just suggestion and let the mvp be the one to prevail to the greatest player of that game to give a edge!

How about this:
Your total points = Total Orbs + Total Assists. If there is a tie, player with more MVPs wins.
Thats simple enough. It encourages teamwork and not turtling since if we have 5 teams, the one who gets the most points will not be the last one standing, but the one who orbed the most cities!

That's what I'm basically saying but your making it simpler.
What about just for the fact use my idea so it can make the others feel more significance between different positions
and have like a overall top 5 Iron Men and top 5 orbers top 5 assist, like the nfl they do rookie of the year and most interceptions shit like that

It would actually probably be best for this type of BCL not even to select an MVP because it will already be hard enough for Nightwish, especially if he is alone!
The poor guy has to get all the teams in their city quickly, then note down who is on every team, then note down which player orbs and which city orbs which, all while trying to make sure there is no outside interference! He probably won't be able to also watch enough to know best who is each teams MVP. Especially if there are 4 or 5 teams to try and watch!
Lets keep it simple, tracking wins, orbs and assists where wins = last team standing.
Then points = orbs + assists and the tie breaker will be wins!
Instead of worrying about loads of stats, this way we can worry about getting a huge battle started!

I am sorry Weebo, But I disagree.
Nightwish is doing this because Nightwish wants to.
You have TONS literally tons, half of the people who play ARE admins why can't they wake thier lazy asses up and help? Anyone can write down a damn score whats so hard about it.
And with my idea it would be a hell of alot funnier for that to happen. I myself think it is pretty damn cool and lots of the players would enjoy a award if they did better in a postion that doesn't envolve the mayor or orber.
I think this is now why many people don't want to play because there is only 1 outcome the best and the best only.
If you had it like I said people would be more active in the game practicing but also more active on this lovely website you made to look at their stats in the BCL!
All I ask is conceder the idea I actually think it's pretty cool that it envolves something besides the mayor and orber and gives all those who aren't over talented that are less capable of orbing or less in skill wise as the mayor to actually achieve something in this season.
Those players are the ones we need, Those players keep BCC ALIVE!
