Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/08 07:55 Please shut up about how disorganized it was. We had almost 30 people on at the same time which is pretty much a record in BCC history, and we also learned that the chat room has an invisible scroll bar that only shows when enough people are on. I think the event was a success, and it will most likely be better now that we know we are dealing with more than 12 people which is the usual for a BCL game.

Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/08 09:17 the client should be updated to make it so people cannot interfere with events

okay a few players had fun, but it could have been more fun had nightwish not kicked 1/4 of the participants

Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/08 16:35 If the participants had looked at the rules for five minutes each there would not have been any reason to kick anyone.

Another thing that would be helpful is if people would shut up during the draft so captains and refs are able to communicate.

The rule against smurfing have existed since the first BCL or in other words five seasons. The players who don't follow it is not new players but vets who for some reason don't want to reveal their true identity.

If you really need me to address this rule by more than one forum thread, one flame from the first person who could not bare following the rules, two announcements in the meeting room, and two global messages as well a private message to at least one person in each of the cities with smurfs, I will be happy to visit you and feed you this little pice of information with a teaspoon.

Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/08 17:32 i stated this to you last week nightwish, most of the higher ranked players have aim/ can have aim, it might work better if you have a aim chat with the captians, then just announce teams after words. i dont think i will be here this week to help at all, but i'll see what i can do. thats my .02 on the annoying talkative people in the meeting room.

if by chance the bc client is used to pick teams again, maybee join cities and have captains join them or anywhere and warp them to a random place to decide.

ok ill stop rambling now, im on 2 hours of sleep and not sure if this made sense

Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/09 04:01 Actually, I think you should do it the same way. If people dont wanna shut the fuck up and follow the rules, kick them. You do have, and should have the authority to kick these fucks (ala Clientel) who refused to listen and follow the rules. He whined through the whole draft about not being a captain, and was still attempting to pick. He should have been kicked permanently.

You need to rule with an iron fist

Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/09 04:51 I huge part of me agrees with Merloch, but I am afraid that if I did we would have two thirds of the players MIA due to kicks every game. However if I could persuade Weebo and ReMoTe to give me a mute feature I could mute everyone but the captains =P

Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/10 07:47 so if there is BCL match going on and you are in the meeting room talking at that time you can get kicked? makes a lot of sense. The real solution is update the client (make a separate chat room for BCL ---EZ) or just organize BCL better. do not give event hosts the ability to mute people unless you want people to get really pissed off.

This isn't even BCL anymore BTW, BCL failed, this is why this new thing is going on. can we stop calling it BCL? What happend last weekend was an organized match where people actually logged on because they knew other people were going to be on. (this and weebo gave away free tanks). There was NO ORGANIZED ROSTER, which means there was NO LEAGUE. Which brings me to support my argument posted after the match--- SINCE THERE IS NO ROSTER, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE ANY NAME I WANT IF I WANT TO PLAY. WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL. Nightwish kicked people on "non-primary" names because he wanted to assert his authority and compensate for SUCKING AT NORMAL BC SO MUCH AND GETTING PWNED (EZ btw) ALL OF THE TIME. Thank god his BCL name is the same as his normal name.

Again, if Nightwish didn't kick people there would have been 20 people instead of 15 or less people playing in the "CARNAGE". I don't know how many people ended up playing BECAUSE I WAS KICKED for logging on as Billiam(BCL).

If you want to make sure teams are even, make a rule where there is a minimum rank to play. Everyone should be able to play on ANY NAME that they want. Half of the BC community switches names newayz. Oh yeah, and revoke Nightwish's admin rights--- solved... EZ

BTW new Non-league BattleCity League set up is a good idea.

Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/10 13:03 If you didn't notice, there are statistics associated to names. I believe that is the main reason that smurfing is not allowed, because it just leads to confusion. Stop crying about what name you get to play on, is it really that big of a deal?

Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/10 14:58 Personally, I think Billiam has a point. Given the setup of this league, it really makes no difference if someone smurfs in it or not. The main goal is to get as many players as possible online and into the battle so everyone has a good time. If they use different names each night, all they do is mess up their own stats since we won't combine them into one.

For all we know half the people that played were smurfs anyways! The ones that ended up being kicked were the ones that were "less" smurfy, because we actually knew who their other account was!

Normally we care about smurfs because we dont want the same player playing for multiple clans in the league. Here thats not a problem because they are their own team =p The only problem I could see with smurfing is teams ending up uneven because people dont know who they are picking. This problem will likely be minimal because if you smurf then your smurf gets the weekly tank prize and the smurf has the chance at winning the grand prize, not your main account =p

Anyways, we should stick to kicking cheaters or people who are disrupting the event! Not those who are there to take part in the battle!

That being said, Nightwish was enforcing the rules of the time so I have no problem with his decisions and actions. I just think that the rule should be modified given that this type of BCL is different that those we've had beforehand

Re:Rule update please read - 2007/10/10 17:28 The main reason smurfing was taken in as a rule in this BCL is because the draft is rank based. This was in turn done to ensure even teams. If smurfing is alloved nothing is in the way for a high ranked player and three friends to stack their team without other captains knowing who to choose to pick the best player available.

As it looks as the community really needs to smurf to have a good time, smurfing will be tolerated for tomorrows game. If it does not lead to any problems I'll remove the rule permanently.
