BCL Strategy - 2007/10/26 20:24
Having a stacked team really seems like a disadvantage in this type of BCL since you become the #1 target pretty quick.
Its kind of like when you play RISK. Whenever I win, its because I was able to lay low and not look like a threat or upset anybody until the end once its too late.
When I lose, its because I was too strong early, or I pissed off another player who has made it their mission to KEEEL me
When you play RISK, you'll make temporary allies for you mutual benefit. It's not lame, its just doing whats best for both players to maintain their chance of winning. Its not smart to waste units attacking weaker players, you need to always hit the strongest.
Lots of the same type of strategy comes into play in this type of BCL.
With 5 or 6 teams, you NEED to play your cards right
Take your position into account in your strategy!
Dont complain if you got sandwiched in the middle. Adjust your strategy. When you play RISK, sometimes you get bad starting location as well. Sometimes you get lucky and start with all of Australia...! =p
If you are in the middle, you might want to start the game with 4D because there is the risk of getting tripled just because of where your city is. Assess the situation before you attack. Scout around and see who is attacking who.
DONT attack a city that hasn't attacked u first if you are in the middle. This is suicide. Chances are, you will be attacked just because of your location, so dont attract extra trouble!
Try to make at least one temporary ally with someone near you to minimize the risk of being hammered by multiple cities.
If two cities are attacking you, scout them both to see if they are also under attack. Attack the one that IS being attacked by another city so you have more chances of taking them out and eliminating the double team on your base.
If you are in the middle on the right side, try to only attack cities north or south of you, not those on the left. If you take out the guy to the north west, the guy north of you might attack u next! But, if you take out the guy to the north, the guy to the north west is less likely to attack you next, but will probably go straight south or north first.
Never take out the guy directly to your left either unless they are attacking you. If the guy to your left is gone, team to your north west and south west might be coming your way next. You really want to take out north or south first.
Well, thats just some random ramblings. Share your ideas and strategies too! Agree or disagree with what I said! Kick some butt next Thursday!
Also, the best mayor on your team needs to build and they need to know that being done in 5 minutes is WAY WAY WAY more important than having a good design. If you are not done after grace period, you are DEAD.
